On April 19, we drove from the Sacramento area to Yosemite National Park, primarily along California 49, the Mark Twain Bret
Harte Trail. We stopped at El Portal and stayed at the Yosemite View Lodge (which had no views of Yosemite Valley or the sights
one normally associates with it, but wonderful views of the Merced River out the back windows of each room! Click on the picture
of the river for details on the hotel.).

Yosemite National Park, one of our favorite places, but we hadn't been there in years, and never before in the spring when
the flowers were blooming and the falls were icing over each night! All the roads "over the top" were closed and
both groves of "Big Trees" were closed because there was still a lot of snow there. In fact, it snowed in Yosemite
Valley the night we arrived, although it was only raining at Yosemite View Lodge.
Here are photos of some of the traditional Yosemite sights...
El Capitan, a favorite with rock climbers, is one |

On the 20th, while walking around the Yosemite Valley, we saw coyotes twice. The first time there were two; the second time
there were three. They weren't very cooperative but perhaps you can see one in each of these two pictures!

April 23 through May 2, we were at Sea Ranch. While we spent most of our time at our house there, we did one shopping trip
south to Santa Rosa, passing through Bodega Bay on the way; and one trip north to Mendocino.

We've had a lot of work done on Sea Ranch since October 2004.
A spiral staircase to replace the ladder to the two bedrooms in the loft; a rebuilt front porch; and all new siding and
windows on the ocean side.
But the view is still beautiful!
